This is our story…

When we first starting planning this next chapter of our lives

we initially envisioned backpacking our way through South America and eventually ending up in West Africa…. but then COVID19.  So instead of being discouraged, we redesigned our plans and decided to explore our very own backyard.  The idea stayed the same…. be free, be happy, and explore!

Like many others, taking a cross country trip has always been something we have imagined.  Though we didn’t have a particular timeframe for this journey, we knew that one day we would be driving across the U.S. highways, seeing all of the national landmarks but more importantly wandering off-the-beaten paths trying new things, finding dope towns, and of course make new friends along the way….. after all, that’s just who we are—unconventional and free-spirited.  So, why continue to wait?  We did our homework on RVs, talked to some friends (both recreational and full-timers), downsized, and set off for adventure in our new Super C class RV.

Meet “AQUEMENI”

“Aquemeni” Our 2020 Dynamx, Isata 5 Super C class RV (Model: 36DS)

Dave is a Gemini and I am an Aquarius and jokingly we dubbed this beautiful beast “Aquemeni” with a nod to OutKast for the naming inspiration.  Every great vessel needs a name and Aquemeni just stuck.

With no real itinerary to follow, we had a couple things in mind when we left San Diego,  1. We want to see Alaska—because who doesn’t?  2. We want to share our experience as African-American/Hispanic travelers, parents, and veterans to inspire others to get out there and experience the freedom of exploration and hopefully create some impactful and lasting memories along the way.  There is so much life to experience, nature to take in, and community bonding to be done if we only took the time to do so.

Let’s make sunshine & be hippy!
